Teen Sailing Club
Saturday and Thursday sessions are for RYA Stage 1 and above. These regular clubs help keep your skills up between courses and participants are encouraged to become independent, confident sailors. Age 13+
Book 6 consecutive Saturdays or Thursdays for £108. It is not possible to switch between Saturday and Thursday sessions in a 6 week block. Or you can pay as you go for £20 per session.
Teen Sailing Week Level 1
Dinton's Teen Sailing Weeks give young adults the chance to get outside and explore an new sport. During the week participants will learn the basics of Sailing, working towards the adult RYA Level 1 scheme. Suitable for ages 13 – 17.
Teen Sailing Week Level 2
Dinton's Teen Sailing Weeks give young adults the chance to get outside and explore an new sport. During the week participants will build on the skills gained in Level 1, working towards the adult RYA Level 2 scheme. Suitable for ages 13 – 17.
Discover Canoeing and Kayaking - Beginners course
£50pp | 9.30am - 1.00pm | Suitable for age 12+
Taking you on the next steps towards becoming an independent paddler, for a fun and safe time on the water. Developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; developing your decision making and practical skills, giving you confidence on the water.
The course is run as a mixed fleet of Canoes, Closed-cockpit Kayaks and Sit-on-top Kayaks, you will have an opportunity to try all of them if you want or you can stick to just one type. Our Instructor will tailor the course to your aspirations and the course will give you time to practice the vital skills until you feel confident. As part of the day you will be working towards the British Canoeing Paddle Discover Award.
Paddleboard Proficiency Award
This one day British Canoeing course is aimed at those who have little to no experience. This day will give you a comprehensive view into the popular world of stand up paddle boarding and the confidence to go out on the water on your own. The course covers the basics from different types of boards, fins and leashes and paddling techniques though to environmental factors that may affect your journey and rescue techniques to keep you safe.
The course covers:
* What to wear
* How the boards differ
* Use of leashes and PPE
* Access and planning your journey
* Getting on and off of the water safely
* Standing up on the board
* Controlling the direction of your craft
* Manoeuvring the board
* What to do in the event of a capsize
* What to do in the event of a board failure
* How to rescue an unconscious casualty
* Access and environmental awareness
* Paddling possibilities beyond this course
Keep your sailing going in a relaxed social environment on a Wednesday evening. You can either use one of our boats or take out your own. Coaches will be on hand to provide some direction, hints and tips but the sessions will be largely directed by the participants. No qualifications are needed, however we do ask that you are around RYA Dinghy Sailing Level 1 ability. Ages 16+.
