Sailing courses for children aged 8- 13
RYA Junior Sailing Stage 1
This week-long course introduces young participants to the basics of dinghy sailing: no previous experience required! Following the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 1 syllabus, participants will learn the basic skills to get their boat moving whilst having lots of fun and games along the way. On completion, participants will be able to join our weekly Junior Sailing Club. Ages 8+
RYA Junior Sailing Stage 2
Budding sailors will build on the skills gained at Stage 1 as they work towards Stage 2 of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. The new techniques learnt will set them well on the way to becoming independent on the water. Participants can then consolidate their knowledge by coming along to our weekend Junior Sailing Clubs, where they can start working on their Stage 3 skills. Ages 8+
RYA Junior Sailing Stage 3
Stage 3 of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme focuses on sailing confidently and safely in all directions, and introduces sailors to new manoeuvres and important sailing knowledge. On earning the Stage 3 certificate they will be able to hire a single-handed dinghy at most RYA Recognised Training Centres, so precise and controlled manoeuvres are a must! Stage 3 is a big jump up from Stage 2 and can sometimes take more than a week to complete, dependent on your child's sailing experience and logged hours. Ages 8+
RYA Junior Sailing Stage 4
Venture into the realms of double handed dinghy sailing – the ultimate team work challenge! On completing the Stage 4 certificate, sailors will be fully competent in moderate conditions and ready to progress on to the advanced sailing modules or hire a double handed dinghy at most RYA Recognised Training Centres. Stage 4 is a big jump up from Stage 3 and can sometimes take more than a week to complete, dependent on your child's sailing experience and logged hours. Ages 8+
Seamanship Skills Course
On this course you will learn to handle your boat in a seaman like manner. You will work on advanced skills such as Rudderless sailing and enhance other skills and manoeuvres from RYA Level 2 or Stage 4. Suitable for ages 13+.
This course will be run all week from 9am-5pm.
